I’ve been playing competitive golf for about four years.  My dad originally got me started in golf but, to be honest, I wasn’t really that interested in it.  However, after I made it on my high school varsity team during my Freshman year, my whole attitude towards it changed.  I enjoyed practicing with my teammates and they motivated me to want to improve my game and get better.  Starting from my Freshman year to now (Junior), I have seen my scores go from shooting in the mid eighties to shooting in the mid to high seventies.

I feel that I could have improved faster but life took an unexpected turn during my Sophomore year.  On October 31, 2016 (Halloween – scariest day for my family!), my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer.   She underwent surgery followed by an aggressive six months of  chemotherapy treatments.  My dad had to focus on my mom and golf took a backseat during this time.  This was a very emotional and difficult time for me personally and my grades suffered as a result.

The chemo was very tough on my mom but she never complained about it and acted like things were normal.  She inspired me to persevere and I have gotten straight A’s for the last 3 consecutive quarters.

Golf has taught me many life lessons especially in areas of perseverance, dedication, and hard work.  Furthermore, it has taught me how a good etiquette can tell other players what kind of person you are, and, how a positive attitude can make or break a person’s game.

In addition to golf, I play the String Bass (section lead) in my high school’s advanced Orchestra and I am the event coordinator for organizing events for my Key Club.

My mom has finished her treatments and is currently in remission.  I am dedicating the upcoming 2018 season to my mom.  My goal is to consistently shoot under +5 in 2 day competitive tournaments.

My ultimate goal is to play college golf and would welcome any and all opportunities.
