Poppy Hills resides in golf’s greatest zip code. One of just seven Pebble Beach golf courses, Poppy Hills was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and originally opened in 1986. In 2013, Robert Trent Jones II firm was called back to Poppy Hills for a renovation that has resulted in a firm, fast and fun golf course.

As a highly valuable part of the renovation, Poppy Hills joined forces with the Pebble Beach water company to create an eco-friendly golf course that boasts a wireless water soil monitoring system and 1800 individually-controlled sprinkler heads. This creates a turf consistency unmatched by any of our neighbors. The new design offers five sets of tees on every hole, making it perfect for golfers of every level from beginning golfers to the PGA Tour professionals that play every September in the First Tee Open.

Poppy Hills – Located in the Del Monte Forest

Poppy Hills golf course is located in the Del Monte Forest in Pebble Beach, California and sits at 207 feet above sea level. Poppy Hills was originally named “Hilltop Course” when it opened in 1986 due to the spectacular views of the Monterey Peninsula coastline that can be seen from the green as the course sits at 207 feet above sea level.

In 2013, the course was re-designed for water and irrigation purposes and re-opened in spring 2014. The “New Poppy Hills” course winds effortlessly through the Del Monte Forest and has received numerous top reviews from Hall of Fame golf professionals and journalists, and was ranked #62 in Golf Digests 2017-2018 Best Courses You Can Play in America.

Discover a rustic a rugged experience along the forest floor through the pine straw and around the native waste areas that weave into each hole. Whether you’re from the Monterey Bay area, or are in town to play a few different courses, Poppy Hills is a perfect complement to some of the other Pebble Beach courses that are located closer to the coastline. As Robert Trent Jones Jr. describes it, “Playing Poppy Hills is as close as you can get to playing golf in a National Park.”
