National Tour Spring Series Opener at Twin Oaks Golf Course

For the first tournament of the New Year, Future Champions Golf hosted its National Tour Spring Series Opener at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, CA. The course tucked away in the hills of San Marcos provided plenty of opportunity for the players to score. Beginning with the Boys College Prep Division who would play two rounds from the blue tees, Shane Muldowney from Carlsbad, CA shot 68-69 for a two day total of 137(-7) and after winning the play off, he would take home the first place award. Kyutae Park from Korea would also total 137(-7) after shooting 70-67 but would take home second place after falling short in the playoff. Third place would go to Adam Matteson from San Diego, CA after his rounds of 71-67 for a two day total of 138(-6). Zihao Jin from San Diego shot 71-70 for a tournament total of 141(-3) to tie with Gun Il Moon from Korea who shot 69-72. Jin would take home the fourth place award after his lower second day total and Moon would therefore take home the fifth place award. Next up in our champion spotlight is the Girls 15-18 division who played from the white tees for two days. Eun Jeong Seong from Korea takes home the first place award after shoot 71-71 for a tournament total of 142(-2). Second place was knotted up three ways, but Jinha Park from Indio would take home the second place award after she shot 76-69 for a two day total of 145(+1). Grace Fitzgerald from Poway would take third place after shooting 73-72 to total 145(+1) after two days as well. Fourth place went to the final player tied at 145(+1), Dasom Ma from Korea, after her rounds of 72-73. Fifth place was also contested, but Casey Syal would triumph after shooting 74-72 for a two day total of 146(+2). Congratulations to all players in the girls College Prep Division, we look forward to your next FCG event.

The Boys 13-14 division would be the next in the books after two rounds from the white tees. Yu Sung Jung from Korea would take home the first place award after shooting 74-76 for a two day total of 158(+6). Adolfo Perez from Calexico played well and would shoot 72-79 for a two day of 151(+7). Congratulations to our boys 13-14 division players, we look forward to seeing you at our next National Tour event. The Girls 14 and Under division would come in right behind the boys. Ivanna Montemayor from San Ysidro had a six stroke lead after the first round and would shoot 71-75 to total 146(+3) for the tournament. Hyun Jo Yoo from Korea shot 77-75 for a two day total of 152(+8). Third place went to Olivia Yun from Carlsbad, CA after shooting 80-76 for a two day total of 156(+12). Congratulations to all 14 and under competitors, we look forward to seeing you at the next FCG National Tour event.

As a side note, Future Champions Golf hosted a friendly team competition between the US and Mexico wherein six out of eight scores on each team would be totaled after the completion of play each day. After the first day of play, the US team led by 5 strokes after a team total of 441 strokes while Mexico totaled 446. The second day saw slightly stronger breezes and some challenging pin positions Team Mexico would shoot 477 and Team USA would shoot 442. The Final tally after summing together all included scores brings Mexico’s total to 923 and the US’s to 883. Congratulations to all players on both teams, a little friendly competition is what this game is all about.

Next up in our champion spotlight is the Boys 11-12 division who played one round from the red tees. Luke Potter from Encinitas, CA would dominate the course, shooting 71(-1) on the day to take home the champions award. Close behind we find Justin Dang from Anaheim, CA who shot 74(+2) to guarantee a second place finish. Finally, we find Dylan Oyama from Carlsbad finishing in the third place after he won the card off against Kevin An after both boys shot 76(+4) for the tournament. Congratulations to all players in our Boys 11-12 division.

Rounding out our champion spotlight and tournament recap is the Boys 10 and under division who would also play one day from the red tees. Samuel Amoroso from Temecula, Ca would shoot 84(+12) to take home the first place award. Second place would be awarded to Antonio Barbosa from Chula Vista, CA after his round of 87(+15). Finishing in third place would be Gawhan Lee from Geoje after he shot 105(+33). Congratulations to all finishers in our Boys 10 and under division, we look forward to your next FCG National Tour Event.
