With perfect weather again on Day 2 at the FCG International Junior Golf Championship in San Diego, CA we concluded play for the 13-14 divisions and crowned 2 new champions. The Boys and Girls 15-18 Divisions would play their hearts out to make the cut to today’s final round with the Top 42 and ties getting to play Day 3.
Boys 13-14 – Congratulations to our 2018 Champion Willy Chen from Taiwan who won the division in a 3-Hole playoff over former champion Jed Dy from the Philippines! It was an awesome battle out there as they played hole 1, hole 18, and the playoff finished on hole 1. Finishing in 3rd place is Yu Yu Chen from Taiwan at 141. Earning the IMG Academy Junior World Exemption is our Champion – Willy Chen.

Girls 13-14 – Congratulations to Yuna Kawabata from Japan for capturing the 11th Annual FCG International Junior Golf Championship after firing a brilliant 69 in the final round on the very challenging Carlton Oaks Golf Course. Yuna will go on to compete in next week’s IMG Academy Junior World Championship! Coming in 2nd place is Fiona Xu from New Zealand with very solid rounds of 73 and 71. In 3rd place comes two stars from Taiwan Huai Chien Hsu and Chun Wei Wu for shooting 145 over the two days of competition.

Boys 15-18 – We have a tight race headed into today’s final round with defending champion Yuki Moriyama from Japan maintaining a 1-stroke lead over Ting Yu Chen from Taiwan with 69-68. Low round of the day came from Caden Christopherson who shot a stellar 66! The cut for this year’s championship was 147 or +7. Final Round today will feature LIVE SCORING for the Final 3 Groups!
