The FCG National Tour event at Aliante Golf Club was held October 11-12, 2014 and was a weekend full of completely different conditions. Perfect weather and course conditions lead to a first round packed with great scoring in all divisions where a quarter of the field shot scores of even par or better. Round 2 conditions were anything less than great with sustained wind gust over 20mph. It was a tough day to even stand up straight.
We would like to recognize Brandon Smith, grad year 2015, on an incredible event scoring 64-70 for a 10 under par total in the Boys College Prep Division. Smith was the only player to fire two under par rounds during the event leading him to a 7 shot victory over runner up finisher, Owen Rosebeck.
Our Girls College Prep division was tough as predicted with multiple players in this group already having won an FCG title this year. Las Vegas’ own Veronica Joels (grad yr 2018) topped this competitive division by 8 shots with a two round total (72-75- 147) of 3 over par.
Lastly, we would like to say congrats to Matthew Manganello for his Hole-In-One on the first day of play on hole #13!
