FCG National Tour-Escondido Championship

Future Champions Golf had the pleasure of hosting our Escondido Championship at The Vineyard Golf Course located in Escondido. A fun but tough test of golf with short par 4’s that you must take advantage of on the front nine because that back nine is a true test of tournament golf. There were five different categories each with top notch junior golfers ready to take on an exciting and challenging weekend.

The boys college prep division had 27 golfers register for the event. All gunning for the top spot and an invitation to join the elite group of players that will be participating at the Aaron Baddeley event in December. The weekend proved to be tough for some of these boys but some players figured out the golf course on day 2. None better than Bo Jin who shot a masterful 67 to claim the top spot for the weekend. Jaden Park started the tournament with a solid 70 and hung tough with a 73 on day 2 in order to claim second place. Brian Mai rode the first round score of 67 all the way to a third place finish.

Note: Congratulations go to Jaden Park who claimed a spot on the Aaron Baddeley team for his second place finish. (Bo Jin is already on team due to previous won event)

The girls college prep had 10 great golfers compete during the weekend, all gunning for the same prize as the boys. The weekend was filled with a bit of cold weather but the scoring seemed to heaten up as the day wore on. Waverly Whiston of San Diego, CA shot a solid 71 on sunday which allowed her to catapult up the the leaderboard winning the tournament by a comfortable three shots. Nicole Whiston of San Diego, CA tried her very best to keep pace with her older sister but fell just short and took home a solid second place finish. Serena Sepersky of Temecula was a wave on consistency turning in a two day total of 153 (+6) for the tournament and third place honors.

Note: Congratulations goes to Waverly Whiston for stamping her ticket to the prestigious Aaron Baddeley Tournament at La Costa.

The boys 13-14 year old category had three players participate in this weekend’s event but that didn’t stop the boys from creating some excitement. Arman Rahgozer and Jared Tran took it upon themselves to take this championship to extra holes with neither one backing off the championship race. In the end Arman Rahgozer outlasted Jared Tan to claim his victory for the weekend. Jared Tran should hold his head high for such a great performance. RuoChen Xu rounded up the podium and must have been riding high with that third place finish, as it came on the winds of a solid 78.

The girls 14 and under division had 14 junior golfers sign up for the weekend, every one of them excited for the opportunity to compete in such a great event. Nobody enjoyed their weekend more than Karen Tsuru of Carlsbad, CA who shot an opening round 68 and followed that up with a solid 73. Well done Karen! Joys Jin of Encinitas, CA was a model of consistency putting up a 72 and a 73 in order to claim second place for the weekend. Lauren Williams of Escondido, CA shot a great opening round 70 and followed it up with a solid 77 good enough to claim third place all to herself.

In the Boys 11-12 year old division, two junior golfers decided to partake in the festivities. The birdies were flying in this group, as, Connor Williams shot two incredible rounds of 67 in order to take home the top spot. Phillip Kench had himself a great first day shooting a solid 73 and he followed that up with a nice 77 to put in two great round for the weekend.

The Vineyard provides golfers with a fun golf course that allows the golfer to make some birdies on the front nine just because it has some bite on that back nine. Once again folks, we would like to express our gratitude for letting us create outstanding memories for your junior golfers that they will remember forever. We only hope to keep providing great events, in quality golf courses with the best junior golf field available. Don’t forget to check out our next golf tournaments in order for your opportunity to claim a top spot in one of your classic junior tournaments.
