About the Course
Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, California, Ted Robinson, course architect, has created a golf course that finds this balance. Fairways at Twin Oaks can be narrow and test golfers’ accuracy off the tee. Keep your drives out of the rough, and you’ll be rewarded with ample opportunities to hit the green in regulation. You’ll also find the greens to be quick and true. Twin Oaks is the home course for the CSU San Marcos Cougars College Golf Teams.
About the Field
In the Girls College Prep Division we have a plethora of notable competitors including Karah Sanford from Escondido who just won last week’s FCG National Tour Event at the Vineyard. Karah also qualified for both the US Junior Girls Amateur and the US Women’s Amateur this past summer. Other featured Girls include Waverly Whiston who is currently leading in San Diego CIF with a 0.5 differential in her high school matches. Cecelia DeMatteo is playing and she was just named the Union Tribune Athlete of the Week for Golf in San Diego. Also in the field is Tour regular Texie June Petchel who is already committed to play at UNLV next fall. A powerhouse division that we cannot wait to see how it all plays out on Sunday!
In the Boys College Prep Division there are currently 50 Boys competing and notable players to watch include Shane Muldowney who just finished runner up last week at the Vineyard event and plays Twin Oaks regularly. Former Callaway Junior World Champion Puwit Anupansuebsai makes his FCG National Tour debut. Puwit has been competing every summer in our FCG International and FCG World Championship events that he has won with some impressive under par finishes. We are excited to have Puwit compete this fall with the FCG Tour. We would like to welcome Michiel Eyre joining us all the way from Salem, Oregon.
Other divisions for this Championship will include the Girls 14 and Under, Boys 11-12, and Boys 10 and Under Divisions. Best of luck to all players and we look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday October 4th! Full Leaderboard >
