FCG Step Up Tour- North County

Future Champions Golf Tour is dedicated to the development of players whether it be to try to get into your high school golf team or aiming for something greater in the future. The Step up Tour provides a great platform for all junior golfers who want to feel the excitement of competition and also the warmth of having golfers at your skill level. We visited St. Mark Golf Club over the weekend in order to determine the winner of your North County Step Up tour Event.

The boys college prep division has been gaining some talent lately and this weekend was no fluke either. Any Hegan had three birdies on the day with two on the front nine, he used that momentum all the way to clubhouse and took home the victory for the weekend. Eric Zhang and Scott Cummings both shot 80 and ended up sharing second place for the weekend. Great job, boys.

The girls college prep division has three girls sign up for the event but the event was still intense. Napua Glossner took home the victory by the smallest margin possible shooting an 86 that included a birdie on the third hole. Emily Zhao ended up just one stroke off the lead at the end of the day she had a birdie on the par 3 13th en route to an 87. Celline Kim had herself quite the day and ended up in third place.

The boys 13-14 year old division had some familiar faces end up on the podium. Arman Rahgozar shot an 81 without a birdie on the card and relied on experience to bring home the trophy. Rohin Awasthi ended up just one shot shy of the lead and ended up in second place for the tournament. Umaan Avvari had a round start to the day but found a rhythm and stuck with it the rest of the round in order to fall into third place.

The girls 14 and under division had 11 girls sign up for the event. Leica Shen shot a wonderful round of 76 that included two birdies and took home first place. Jiya Dalal had a promising start to her round but seemed to fall in a funk for the last nine and wound up with a solid second place finish. Dianna Lee tried to keep her spirits high with a birdie on the par 3 11th and wound up with a nice third place finish for the weekend.

The boys 11-12 division has three players go out and try to dominate the St. Mark Golf course. Phillipe Yturraldee got a big momentum swing on his round on the difficult par 3 17th and used it to catapult himself into the top spot on the podium. Elijah Goulbourne had a handful of pars on the day and wound up with a solid second place finish. Aarav Chandra just could not get into a groove out on the golf course and wound up with a third place for the day.

The boys 10 and under category saw some great golf and competition with the boys that signed up for the event. Ethan Hong was a beacon on consistency, making pars and bogeys throughout the day, shooting a solid 82 and taking home first place for the weekend. There was a huge bottleneck at second place with three different players shooting the same score, Chris Anguelov, Ryan Vo and Anthony Noh wound up in a T-2 situation.

Future Champions Golf is delighted to know that we are providing a platform for junior golfers to showcase their talents. We would like to thank all of the volunteers and parents that make all of this possible.
