Future Champions Golf is proud to be one the best junior development golf tours in the world. All this is thanks to the undeniable support from parents, volunteers, golf companies and our trusted employees that strive each day to continue to bring the best events to the best golf courses in order to provide a one of a kind, professional golf tour experience. This weekend was no exception as Future Champions Golf visited St. Mark golf course in San Marcos for another chapter of the awesome development Step Up Tour. Let’s see how the kids fared this weekend on a golf course that is known for it’s slippery and undulating greens.
The boys college prep division had 4 participants register for the event and the 4 player tournament did not disappoint! Alex Maglaque had two birdies on the card and used a solid even par back nine to catapult him to victory for the weekend shooting a solid 76. Steven Schneider and Eric Zhang seemed to be on the same wavelength this Sunday shooting matching 77’s good enough for tied second finish. Steven had himself an eagle on the par 5 7th hole on Sunday, while Eric had himself a three birdie day!
The girls college prep division had a solid representative go out and play her very best. Mia Garcia had a great start to her back nine pulling out three straight birdies on 10, 11 and 12 en route to shooting a back nine 41 and a first place finish for the weekend.
The girls 14 and under age category had 9 girls register for the event and boy was the competition fierce! Karen Tsuru managed to come out on top of the pack after shooting a solid 74 with a one under 36 on the back nine of competition. Libby Fleming had herself three birdies for the day en route to shooting a solid 83 and a second place finish. Queen Igbineweka had herself a birdie on the difficult par 3 17th which catapulted her to a top three finish for the event!
The boys 13-14 year old division had four participants register for the event, it seems the tricky slopes and undulations of the green were getting a little rough for these players. Umaan Avvari had himself a two birdie day including a birdie on the par 5 finishing hole in order to book a solid 78 and a first place for the day. Caden Flores and Arman Rahgozer had matching 85’s on the day en route to a solid tied second finish.
The boys 11-12 year old division had a solo representative by the name of Elijah Goulbourne who carded three pars on the day and a first place finish for the tournament.
The boys 10 and under category had a little more golf action on Sunday with 6 players registered for the event, these boys were eager to get the competition going! Colin Li had three birdies on the card including one on the far 5 18th which helped him card a solid 77 which allowed him to take first place honors. Eli Geddy had a solid stretch of 4 straight pars on the front nine which helped him capture second place honors all to himself. Jaiden L. Davis ended up just one stroke shy of second place, his ability to card five pars for the day is what gave him the edge to come up with solid third place finish.
Future Champions Golf will continue to strive to bring forth the best competitive fields, the best golf venues and the most professional golf tour environment so that junior golfers will be able to develop their golf game and thrive in any future endeavors. We would like to thank the volunteers, parents, golf staff and employees who make all of this possible.
