Future Champions Golf travelled to Frisco, TX for the 7th annual FCG Texas Championship at the beautiful Plantation Golf Club. The Bermuda greens, 20 sand bunkers, and 9 ponds provided an exceptional challenge, and scenery, for all players regardless of skill level. The weather also held during the incredible weekend. Without further pause, let’s get to the event recap of one of the many 2016 IMG Junior World Qualifiers held by FCG.
11-12
The Boys 11-12 division is the first one to make it into scoring. Go Nakatsukasa, who travelled from San Diego, shot 71-75 for a two day total of 146(+2) and takes home the championship award for his skilled play. Second place was awarded to Johnnie Clark from Mesa, AZ after his rounds of 69-79 for a tournament total of 148(+4). Lastly, Rei Harashima from Chula Vista, CA takes home third place after shooting 75-76 for a total of 151(+7) after two days on the course.
The Girls 11-12 came in to scoring right behind the boys and we find Vani Karimanal from Cupertino, CA atop the leaderboard after she shot 77-76 for a tournament total of 153(+9). Chaewon Baek from Langley, BC takes home the second place award after shooting 80-75 for a two day total of 155(+11). Third place was awarded to another local who followed FCG out to Texas, Jiya Dala from San Diego, after she shot 82-83 to total 165(+21) for the tournament.

9-10
The Boys 9-10 division is next up in our champion spotlight. Our champion, after shooting 78-73 for a two day total of 151(+7), is Awesome Burnett from Flower Mound, TX. Second palce was hotly contested as two boys end up tied after two days of play. However, Charlie Ward, from Erlangen Germany, took home the second place award after winning in the card off with rounds of 79-74, totaling 153(+9) after two days. Aaron Huang from Vancouver, BC takes home third after also totaling 153(+9) with rounds of 75-78 during his two days of play.
The Girls 9-10 showed what their made of as they came in for scoring. Michelle Liu from Vancouver, BC showed her stuff after shooting consecutive rounds of 38 to total 76(+4) for the tournament and took home the championship trophy after an impressive weekend. Elise Liu from Richmond, BC took home second place after shooting 40-43 for a tournament total of 83(+11). Third place was awarded to Bella Flores from Kingwood, TX after she shot 45-41 for a two day total of 86(+14).

8 and Under
The Boys 8 and under division is the last boys division to come in to scoring. Nathan Miller from Dallas, TX shot 39-40 for a tournament total of 79(+7) and took home the championship award for his efforts. Isaac Diaz from Del Rio, TX took home second place after he shot 42-39 for a two day total of 81(+9). Third place was awarded to Duff McKay from Dallas, TX after shooting 42-43 for a two day total of 85(+13). The girls 8 and under division played right alongside the boys and Carmen Pate from League City, TX would be the champion after she shot 50-43 for a total of 93(+21) after two days of play.
