Future Champions held an event at one of the favorite Kids Tour venues this past Saturday at Colina Park! Not only do the holes provide a different challenge on every tee shot, but the greens are smooth and fast. The players would shoot well under the beautiful blue skies and warm sun. This event was a great way to end Spring Break for many of the players! Without further delay lets move on to the champion spotlight in our tournament recap.
First up in the champion spotlight is our Boys 11-14 division! All tees on the course are the same for every division, which is what makes Colina Park a fantastic challenge for players of all abilities. Zafir Maker-Agha would finish at 62(+8), a solid round for our boys 11-14 champion. Nicholas Chavarin would shoot 73(+19) and takes home the second place award.
Next up in our player spotlight is the Girls 11-14 division which finds Ana Luis Rodriguez Lopez atop the leader board as our champion after her round of 65(+11). Second place was awarded to Muzi Wei after she shot 71(+17) on the tricky course. Paulina Narvaez Gonzalez takes home the third place trophy after winning in a card off against Rheanna Basilio, though both girls played great as they finished with a total of 77(+23).
The Boys 9-10 were the next groups to come in for scoring. Kai Salinas, who recently made his debut on our National Tour, takes home the first place award after shooting 63(+9). Jaiden Davis was awarded the second place trophy after he shot 68(+14). Emilee Canepa representing the Girls 9-10 division shoots a 74(+20) and takes home her very own first place award.
The boys 7-8 division featured one of the lowest rounds of the day, showing that it isn’t always about how far you hit the ball, but more often accuracy and coolheaded shot making are rewarded. Yu Ohashi takes home the first palce trophy after his incredible round of 58(+4). Pierre Campa takes home the second place award after shooting 75(+21). Third place was awarded to Victor Angeles after he shot 78(+24) on the sloped course.
The Girls 7-8 division would light up the course as well as any other division did this past Saturday. Isabella Itkin became our champion after she shot 66(+12) on lightning fast greens with tough pins. Second place was awarded to Liliana Ola Davis after she shot 71(+17). Jordin DeOcampo takes home the third place trophy after she shot 74(+24).
6 and Under
The last few groups to come in for scoring are our 6 and under divisions, we will lead things off with the boys 6 and under groups. Connor Szczechowicz shot 61(+7) and rightly earns the first place trophy. Zachary Luo would follow close behind with a 69(+15) and takes home the second place trophy. Ryuta Yobiko would take home the third place trophy after his round of 81(+27).
Finishing off our recap of the Kids Tour at Colina Park is the Girls 6 and under division. Zoe Salinas played some decent golf and is awarded the first place trophy after she shot 71(+17). Janette Dunn would shoot 90(+36) and takes home the second place trophy after a fun day out on the course.
Future Champions Golf would like to extend thanks to all staff, volunteers, players, and of course, the parents. Without all of you, FCG would not be able to provide the competitive and exciting atmosphere that we have all come to enjoy at events of this magnitude. Future Champions Golf would also like to recognize Colina Park and Pro Kids for all their assistance and allowing us to host our event at their facility. Finally, we would like to offer a special thank you to Callaway Golf for providing a sleeve of Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls as a tee prize to all competitors. Once again thank you for all the support, we look forward to making your next experience with Future Champions Golf as rewarding as this one!
