Pre Event Press Release for 11th Annual FCG National Championship

For immediate release…

11th Annual Future Champions Golf National Championship kicks off December 28th for the 11th edition of what has become the largest event in junior golf worldwide during the Winter Break time frame.  Kids from all over the USA and Internationally will come together in San Diego to compete in 12 different age divisions for a chance to be the FCG National Champion.  This event which was started by Chris Smeal and his Future Champions Golf program in 2008 has quickly developed into one of the most sought-after tournaments in junior golf and a major recruiting event for college coaches.  Last year 37 College Coaches attended this special event. The event was originally called the San Diego Junior Amateur but as the event grew the name was changed to better reflect the size and reach of the event.

How about the Past Champions list?  In just ten years of hosting there are 4 boys champions who have now made it to the PGA Tour including Beau Hossler, Aaron Wise, Todd Baek, and Chris Williams.  In addition, past participants include Xander Schauffele who was this year’s PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and the winner of the Tour Championship.  Also, Byron Meth who went on to win the US Public Links and played in the Masters is a past participant.
