Scholarships for High School Females Committed to Collegiate Golf

  • by

The scholarship application portal is now open – through January 31st.

Marilynn Smith Scholarships are granted annually. One of 13 founding members of the LPGA, Marilynn was denied funding to play intercollegiate golf due to her gender. In 1999, she established a fund to award scholarships to female high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership and extraordinary community involvement and plan to play collegiate golf. To date, the fund has awarded nearly $1.3 million to 237 women, “Marilynn Smith Pearls.”

Since Marilynn’s passing in 2019, Golf It Forward continues Marilynn’s legacy, helping even more young women attend college. The application portal is open through January 31, 2024.

“Through this wonderful game, I have learned to be peacefully confident and ready for what life has to offer. In the future, as an educator and golf coach, I hope to share with other young women the life lesson, knowledge and skills I have gained. Please accept my gratitude for the invaluable role your scholarship has played in shaping both my collegiate career and my future. It is my intention to bring honor to Marilynn Smith’s by representing it with confidence, skill and respect.”  – Morgan Wood, 2011 Scholarship Recipient
