Texas WS Championship Week 1: 2.25.18 (JWQ 13-18)

Future Champions was pleased to host the 9th annual FCG Texas Championship hosted at the beautiful Plantation Golf Club. As FCG looks to expand across the country giving junior golfers the biggest stage to compete in, it also provides an opportunity for players to qualify for the IMG Junior World. The first week in Texas is played for divisions 13-18 as the younger age divisions will play next weekend. Each winner in the division will get an automatic exception to the 2018 IMG Junior World which will take place in July. As the weather in Texas was able to hold up during the 1st day, FCG decided that the tournament would be cut to a 1-day event due to the weather. FCG always wants to give all players a fair and fun weekend of golf. As ages 13-18 competed this weekend they were split up into 4 different age divisions. The Texas native, Andrea Gomez, was no stranger to the tough Texas conditions as she shot an round of 76 (4+). As she tied with Morgan Goldstein from Las Vegas, Nevada who also carded an round of 76 (4+) both ladies found themselves going to a play off with the IMG exception on the line! However, it was Andrea Gomez who captured her playoff win which will lead her to a 1st place win and and automatic qualifier to IMG Junior World’s!
