Congratulations to all our 72 Day Challenge Participants!

The 72-Day FCG Challenge is designed to help golfers improve their skills, fitness, and mental game over a focused 72-day period. Participants will commit to practice or playing golf every day, tracking progress, and working on key areas of their game.

It’s Day 30 of the challenge and the participants have made amazing progress. We’ve seen so many juniors working hard and giving their all for this challenge.

Week 1 Updates

Briefly describe what you learned in your first week of this challenge. What valuable lessons you obtained of this challenging routine? How did you feel having something to work towards or to complete to meet certain goals? How do you think this will help you not become a better golfer but a better version of yourself?

“The feel of the putt felt great and the increase in power in the driver felt very different from the gym exercises.”

“I learned how to be a better putter and iron player.”

“In the first week of this challenge I have learned many things about determination, commitment, and setting goals. My morning routine is waking up five in the morning and going for a 3 mile walk followed by completing a workout and hitting 100 balls into a net. Keeping this consistent even for a week feels great and I am determined to keep this progress going. Along with this I go to a range or course everyday to work on other parts of my game and set tiny goals for myself in each range session. In addition to all of this I am reading the book Inner Excellence and is guiding me on becoming mentally tougher to help me achieve my goals. With all of this being added into my life I have even more faith in myself to reach all of my goals.”

“This challenge makes my daily training having goals to meet and having fun while doing activities. This challenge also makes my training systematize.”

Week 2 Updates
“Everett DeVoe, Golf shapes me by giving me goals. I have goals on and off the course, and that helps me have goals for school and my everyday life. Golf impacts my life because it is what I do every day and what I think about every day. What keeps me motivated is the strive to get better, I really want to be the #1 junior in the world and potentially the #1 golfer in the world.”
“From Lexie Wyckoff “Golf teaches me to keep trying until you get it right. It also helps me get stronger. I have gotten better at golf since starting the challenge. I like playing games when I practice and trying new courses makes it fun.”
“My name is Austin Cheng, and golf shapes me as a person with positive perspective. During this week’s challenge, it helped me to grow my mentality and emotional control. On the golf course, you have to have patience to deal any kind of challenges, especially after the bad shots. My dad always told me, there is always a next shot. Forget about last miss, focus on your next upcoming shots. My dad takes me to the range almost everyday, and always tell me, just follow your daily routine, commit to what you are doing everyday, believe in yourself. So far with FCG’s challenge, I do have more goals and motivations to practice my games on daily basis. Thank You!”
Week 3 Updates
“My name is Kate Yi The third week of the 72-day golf challenge has really pushed me. This week, I have been hitting perfect drives, sinking tough putts, and staying mentally strong under pressure. I’ve focused more on my short game, which has helped, though I’m still working on keeping calm when it counts. What keeps me going is seeing those small improvements and believing I’m getting better each day. It’s been hard, but I can definitely see some progress!!! I’ve built a habit of daily practice and learning from my mistakes. I’m seeing real changes in my game, and my dad inspires me to keep practicing hard!!!”
“From Lexie Wyckoff: “I have been working on my chipping and full swing. On my chipping I am working on narrowing my stance, keeping my weight on the balls of my feet, and making sure I setup to leave enough room for my arms to work. On my full swing I have been trying to make sure rotate well on my backswing. It has been hard to remember all the things I have been working on but I try my best. I have been trying to make sure I remember my setup routine. I work hard to set a good example for my little sister. I like to eat ice cream after I practice golf. I’ve noticed the ball flies off my driver faster when I do a good job on the swing moves I have been working on. Lexi Thompson inspires me to get better because she is very good at golf and we have the same name!”
Week 4 Updates
“From Lexie Wyckoff “Golf has taught me to never give up and keep trying until you reach your goals. Playing in Future Champions tournaments is helping me make friends who play golf too. My biggest challenge was when I moved up in age divisions and I overcame it by practicing harder so I could be more competitive.”
“I am Gia Allen and 10 year old golf athlete. Golf has taught me to have a good attitude and stay positive and control what you can control. FCG is shaping my future by having me develop routines that will be lifeli g habits. My greatest golfing challenge was trying to stay focused on my game when my Nonna came to live with us and was dying of cancer. I tried to think of how much she loved watching me play and she loved playing the sport too so I tried my best thinking of how she couldn’t play anymore. I overcame my sad and negative thoughts by thinking of each shot and hole at a time.”
“Everett DeVoe, Golf has taught me to just move on like I move on to the next hole, if I have a bad hole, I can just play the next hole, and that score does not matter for the hole I’m on right now, this helps me let go and forgive (Or be forgiven). FCG is giving me opportunities to grow my game and get to the next level in my amateur career. I would say one of my greatest golfing challenges was coming back from a quadruple bogey in a 9-hole event. It was at Westridge GC in LA area, I pared the first and then on my tee shot on 2 I hit in the water, I ended up making a quad and was +4 thru 2, next hole birdie, +3 thru 3, then followed that with a bogey and then a birdie right after that +3 thru 5, two pars, then I was on 8 and I hit a great iron on the green and made a eagle, at first I thought it was a par three but it was a par 4. I had a great up in down on 9 to make a birdie to win and shoot Even par.”
