Matthew Laprade, a young racecar driver and dedicated golfer, is making a name for himself not only on the racetrack and golf course but also as a passionate NEDvocate. His journey began at a young age, inspired and supported by his father, Damon.
“My dad and I started golfing together when I was 6,” Matthew recounts. “At first, it was just cool to be out there hanging out with dad… Now I’m working every day to get better. I play on the team at school and when we’re not racing, I’m working on my game.” Damon’s influence is evident; they share a strong bond through their love for golf and racing.

Damon proudly observes, “Matthew is very competitive. He wants to be good at whatever he does. Golf is challenging for all of us that play and to watch him work so hard and enjoy the game like I have is awesome. It’s something we can do together for a long time.”
Matthew’s enthusiasm and determination are not confined to sports. He believes that regardless of age or grade level, everyone can make an impact by being an NEDvocate. He uses his platform as an athlete to inspire and support various causes, showing that passion can drive change. Whether it is NEDvocating for pediatric cancer awareness or supporting local charities, Matthew’s efforts on and off the field prove that dedication and willingness to help others can make a significant difference.

Matthew’s story is an inspiration to many, demonstrating that with the right attitude and commitment, anyone can excel in multiple fields and make a positive impact on the community. His dual passion for racing and golf, complemented by his NEDvocate work, offers a compelling example of how young individuals can lead by example.

Matthew is an inspiration to young people who can follow their dreams even at a young age.
By helping others in having an interest too give back this will carry through with Matthew throughout his life to be there to help and care for others.
Thank you, Matthew
